Sometimes, acknowledging the issue can be the most challenging part of the recovery process. For a large majority of people, it’ll take a series of bad turns and mistakes to shine a light on their addiction. And even if it seems impossible to rise up at times, you’re still capable of tackling the hardship of addiction and pushing yourself free from its grasp. However, it’ll be one of the hardest things you’ve ever done, but the end result is worth the time and effort.
When it comes to recovery, it’s important to take a step back and acknowledge your decision to receive treatment is for your betterment.
Have a conversation with friends and family.
It’s important for you to have an honest discussion with friends and family about your addiction and desire to receive proper treatment. It’ll be a difficult conversation, but the more open you are, the easier it will be more for you to tackle your addiction when you’re in the recovery process. Remain calm and decisive, and don’t inspire any conflict or potential triggers during the conversation. Phoenix Recovery Center offers a Family Education Program for the addicted and their family members to learn and grow with each other while tackling the recovery process together.
Let your job know you’ll be taking a leave of absence.
Depending on where you work, you may be able to qualify for paid leave; however, don’t be surprised if it’s unpaid either. Have a conversation with the human resources department as well as your boss in order to make the necessary preparations.
Make sure your home is taken care of during your leave.
Pay all of your bills ahead of time and have your mail held or taken care of by a trusted source. As for pets, have a friend, family member, or even a kennel take care of them while you’re gone. And just to be safe, have a neighbor, friend, or family member check up on your house while you’re gone.
Have all of the medication you may need to bring ahead of time.
If it’s medicine you need on a regular basis, make sure you have 28 days worth of it during your stay. The medical staff can give you your medicine as needed, but they cannot write, provide, or fill any existing prescriptions.
